John Motl, MD

Medical Director, Founder of MotlMD

“Symptoms are a message, not a defect.”

For Dr. John Motl, Integrative Medicine is more than a career; it’s a calling. Growing up in a family of medical professionals, he was inspired from a young age to help those who were sick and struggling.

He completed medical school at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and then began an Internal Medicine internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. After this, he was selected for the Neurology Residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco.

As a young neurologist working with migraine patients, he noticed many did not respond well to medication. Wanting to help them, he chose to study mind-body medicine as part of his psychiatry residency. He discovered many patients who were not helped by medication alone responded well to combinations of techniques such as hypnosis, biofeedback, or relaxation therapy. It was this experience that started him on the path, which is now MotlMD.

After years of helping patients by combining conventional medicine with mind-body therapy, he completed the U.C.L.A. Medical Acupuncture program and became the first physician to provide acupuncture in a medical hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. A few years later, he expanded his neuropsychiatry experience as the medical director for a clinic that used brain scanning to diagnose and treat complex mental health symptoms.

The Motl Model is the result of Dr. Motl’s combined training and experience successfully treating patients over the years. When it comes to mental health, conventional treatment leaves many patients struggling with treatment-resistant symptoms, medication side effects, and underlying imbalances that can create more symptoms.

MotlMD is Dr. Motl’s life work culminating into a medical group designed to accurately assess and treat people who are suffering with mental health conditions.

He looks forward to working with you.
